Adjusting the Air Compression Damping Valve

  1. At the top of each AirCell is an adjustable Air Compression Damping Valve (ACD Valve). This valve is pre-set at the softest setting (full counter-clockwise open). The valve has approximately 10 full turns of adjustments. Always adjust both valves the same. Your first ride should be made with the pre-set settings. If you feel you need a firmer ride, or would like the front end to ride higher in the stroke, loosen the round black locknut then adjust both valves five turns clockwise then re-test. Make sure to re-tighten the locknut. Adjust until you find the settings you prefer. Turning the valve clockwise will slow the air entering the AirCells and stiffen the feel of your forks. Most riders prefer the softest settings. You will need to experiment with the settings for your preference in feel.

  2. Before every ride, push the air bleeder valve on top of the AirCell to vent any air pressure that has built up. This air bleeder valve vents both forks at the same time. Always place motorcycle on a stand with the front wheel off the ground, before venting your forks.
Recommended settings:

When adjusting the Air Compression Damping Valves, always start with the valves fully closed (full clockwise). Adjust both valves the same.  Make sure to loosen and re-tighten the black locknut before and after making any adjustments.

  1. Hard pack condition > 7-10 turns out (counter clockwise)
    Intermediate > 6 - 8 turns out (counter clockwise)
Loamy > 5-7 turns out (counter clockwise)
    Mud/Sand > 1-4 turns out (counter clockwise)
